Which MicroG do I need?

The wrong MicroG is the most common reason sign-in fails. Today’s YouTube Vanced download is built with the Morphe patches, and those talk to MicroG RE. Official ReVanced builds talk to ReVanced GmsCore.
Switching MicroG? MicroG RE and ReVanced GmsCore share the same app ID, so Android shows “App not installed” if the other one is still on your phone. Uninstall the old one first — you’ll just need to sign in again.
What is Vanced MicroG?
YouTube Vanced is a modified copy of YouTube. Google’s own Play Services refuse to log in modified apps, so Vanced needs another way to talk to your Google account. MicroG is a free, open-source replacement for the parts of Play Services that Vanced needs for sign-in. It installs as a separate app, has no icon on most phones, and only works with Vanced — your normal Google apps keep using the real Play Services.
- MicroG RE — maintained by the Morphe project, for the current Vanced download.
- ReVanced GmsCore — maintained by the ReVanced team, for official ReVanced builds.
- Vanced MicroG — the original from Team Vanced; still needed by the 2023 build 18.35.35.
Do I need MicroG?
- Yes, if you want to sign in: subscriptions, playlists, history, comments and likes.
- No, if you only want to watch without an account — Vanced plays videos without it.
- No, on rooted phones using a root (Magisk) build of Vanced.
How to install MicroG
- Pick the right MicroG from the table above and download it.
- Open the file. If Android asks, allow your browser or file manager to install unknown apps.
- Tap Install. When it finishes, install YouTube Vanced.
- Open Vanced, tap the profile icon and sign in. MicroG shows a Google login screen.
On Android 12 and newer, open Settings → Apps → MicroG → Battery and choose Unrestricted. Otherwise Android may put MicroG to sleep and Vanced will ask you to sign in again.
MicroG RE here is the 64-bit build, which fits almost every phone. Older 32-bit phones need the universal build from the official MicroG RE releases.
