What is Vanced MicroG?
YouTube Vanced is a modified copy of YouTube. Google’s own Play Services refuse to log in modified apps, so Vanced needs another way to talk to your Google account. MicroG (now called GmsCore by the ReVanced team) is a free, open-source re-implementation of the parts of Google Play Services that Vanced needs for sign-in.
It installs as a separate app, has no icon on most phones, and only works with Vanced. Your normal Google apps keep using the real Play Services.
Do I need MicroG?
- Yes, if you want to sign in: subscriptions, playlists, history, comments and likes.
- No, if you only want to watch without an account — Vanced plays videos without it.
- No, on rooted phones using a root (Magisk) build of Vanced.
How to install MicroG
- Download the MicroG APK from the box on this page.
- Open the file. If Android asks, allow your browser or file manager to install unknown apps.
- Tap Install. When it finishes, install YouTube Vanced.
- Open Vanced, tap the profile icon and sign in. MicroG shows a Google login screen.
On Android 12 and newer, open Settings → Apps → MicroG → Battery and choose Unrestricted. Otherwise Android may put MicroG to sleep and Vanced will ask you to sign in again.
Which MicroG version should I use?
Use the latest build shown here. It works with every current YouTube Vanced/ReVanced build. Huawei phones without Google services need the separate “hw” build from the official GmsCore releases. The original Vanced MicroG 0.2.24 is on the old versions page, but only works with old Vanced builds.
