Questions and answers
What is YouTube Vanced?
A modified YouTube app for Android with no ads, background playback, SponsorBlock, dislike counts and many layout options. Today it is built with the open-source ReVanced patches on top of the current YouTube app.
How is it different from the official YouTube app?
It is the same app with extra features and without ads. It installs next to the official app, so you can keep both.
Is YouTube Vanced safe?
The build here is made from open-source ReVanced patches, and we check each file before publishing. Download only from sites you trust, and get MicroG from its official source. Play Protect warns about every modified YouTube app — that warning is expected.
Is YouTube Vanced legal?
Using a modified client can break YouTube’s Terms of Service. Google sent Team Vanced a legal notice in 2022, which ended the original project. We are not aware of action against individual users, but you use it at your own risk.
Can I sign in to my YouTube account?
Yes. Install MicroG first, then sign in inside Vanced. Your subscriptions, playlists and history sync as normal.
Do I need root?
No. The APK on the homepage is the non-root build.
How do I install YouTube Vanced?
Install MicroG, install the Vanced APK, then sign in. See the step-by-step guide.
Will I get updates?
Vanced does not update itself from the Play Store. Check this site for new builds and install the new APK over the old one — your settings are kept.
Why does it say “App not installed”?
An older build with a different signature is probably installed. Uninstall it (not the official YouTube app) and try again.
Why won’t videos load?
Old builds stop working when YouTube changes its servers. Update to the latest version from the homepage.
Can I use YouTube Vanced on iOS?
No — it is Android-only. See Vanced for iOS for what works on iPhone.
Does it work on Android TV or PC?
No. It is built for phones and tablets. On a PC, a browser with an ad blocker gives a similar experience.
How do I uninstall YouTube Vanced?
Like any app: long-press the icon and choose Uninstall. Uninstall MicroG too if you no longer need it. The official YouTube app is not affected.
